The rope is being used for “gathering” but also becomes a separating tool, a limiting instrument. Its material significance to humans underlines a complex network of dangers, accidents, and existential obligations. Today the need of survival is decontextualized from its origins and is creating a hyperspace for explorations, interweaving its symbolic and aesthetic dimensions to open up a space for myth and ritual. Through an anthropological approach, Beyond control examine how power condenses in the material and metaphor “Rope”. Calling for a contemporary myth along the material of the rope, the team worked with archetypes. It became unavoidable to discern our relation to these archetypes today, asking if we can find some sorts of original roots to what we represented or embodied when entering these forms. The mythical dimension of the work needed to be a collaboration of spirituality and science, both perspectives moving the group to take specific aesthetic decisions. The rope easily connected our private present to the cultural histories of gender, colonization, sexuality, and morals of punishment. Unconscious at first, the performance Beyond Control actualizes a journey into “the art of losing control” (Jules Evans, 2017), entering through the embodiment of different cultural references to the power of ropes, each connected to the performers’ personal backgrounds. This individual research then makes spaces for a group merging, giving (and taking) a safe space for letting go of control. From there, the collective can formulate models of the future – of how we become masters of our own mirrors, engineers of biomorphic clones and gods within centuries.Choreography and direction: Shiran An evolution of Shpilman's and Eliaserov’s&nbsp; performative installation Inversion of a Future, IMPACT is the first act of their opera that seeks to bring new viscerality to the experience of the human body through new operatic elements infused with live film stunts.The result of extensive research supported by institutions including DockART, the Berlin Senate, and Fonds Darstellende Künste, IMPACT combines the interdisciplinary expertise of this creative team. Reimagining the heroic stunts and cinematic gestures of popular culture, IMPACT uncovers the fear, vulnerability, and mortality that lie within. To create compatible actions on stage, the creative team required a cast that could intersect the realms of sound, music, and motion, finding riggers ready to take on the role of actors and opera performers with extensive backgrounds in the practices of movement. Presented on a 360° stage, opera singer Katsiaryna Zhynhiarouskaya, artist and professional stuntwoman Helga Wretman, and professional film stunt coordinators and riggers Alexander Kusmak and Marten Baum, interact with Shpilman’s musical score with epic orchestrations, sound effects, and foley sounds craftsmanship. Trapped within the confines of the stage, each of these four individuals embodies the intensity of the situations before them, coalescing into an undivisive organism. Do we create the apocalypse in order to believe in miracles? Does re-creating our reality through our thinking allow us to become God-like? submits to iconic images penetrating her being. In a constant search for Origin, she questions the artificial nature of the factual and fictional, their production and their perception, approaching the space as a playground of perspectives. This creation is responding to research Eliaserov share with Johan Planefeldt (film director) and Andreas Demmel (a Therapist in systemic constellation work and transpersonal psychology). In their work together they research transpersonal processes in order to access the deeper layers of kinesthetic impulses and intuition.&nbsp; Premier on the 26th of May in Plateau Gallery .
