Choreographer Shiran Eliaserov, Composer Amir Shpilman, and dramaturg Louis Geisler premiere IMPACT on February 18, 2023 at Tanzhalle Berlin.

An evolution of Shpilman's and Eliaserov’s  performative installation Inversion of a Future,
IMPACT is the first act of their opera that seeks to bring new viscerality to the experience of the human body through new operatic elements infused with live film stunts.
The result of extensive research supported by institutions including DockART, the Berlin Senate, and Fonds Darstellende Künste, IMPACT combines the interdisciplinary expertise of this creative team. Reimagining the heroic stunts and cinematic gestures of popular culture, IMPACT uncovers the fear, vulnerability, and mortality that lie within. To create compatible actions on stage, the creative team required a cast that could intersect the realms of sound, music, and motion, finding riggers ready to take on the role of actors and opera performers with extensive backgrounds in the practices of movement. Presented on a 360° stage, opera singer Katsiaryna Zhynhiarouskaya, artist and professional stuntwoman Helga Wretman, and professional film stunt coordinators and riggers Alexander Kusmak and Marten Baum, interact with Shpilman’s musical score with epic orchestrations, sound effects, and foley sounds craftsmanship. Trapped within the confines of the stage, each of these four individuals embodies the intensity of the situations before them, coalescing into an undivisive organism.
